Tehillim / Psalm 23

Shalom Children Of G-D!

Welcome Back To #season6 of…..

Marie Speaks G-D’s Grace Bible Study.

This lesson is the first lesson of us studying the Tehillim / Book of Psalms Together.

Now I have posted videos reading the Psalms on our Youtube and Rumble and IG social media pages, but this seasons goal will be something more in depth, more G’W terminology filled, and G’W applicable to one’s life.

So as we…..

Awaken

become Awake, intelligently Awaken, and in wisdom remain Awoke

There is no doubt in my mind we will be equipped and passionate about truly living a Torah and Tanakh filled life each and every season of our life and therefore enrich the lives of those we love and come into any form of contact with throughout this lifetime.

Today’s Lesson

This lesson, we will learn the terminology of Tehillim/Psalms 23 and expand on that terminology in the video lesson that will be uploaded or broadcast live.

The BLOGs are written to assist those just beginning to study the Tehillim / Psalms as a starting point. The Live or recorded Bible Studies are to cover and release opportunities and guidance, but ultimately it is one’s own personal responsibility to rule, govern, and be purposeful in their relationship with G-D. Both the BLOGs and video lessons are meant to be coupled in order to joyfully complete a well-rounded and complete learning opportunity baseline.

Before reciting the Psalms

Blessings before reciting Tehillim / Psalms

Why prayer before reciting Tehillim/ Psalms?:

Before we recite Tehillim / Psalms, it is for the benefit of the one engaging in praise to center their hearts and mind focus solely on the words they are preparing to recite. One is preparing themselves to remove the worries and cares of each day, and be solely in the presence of the Almighty Blessed be He.

The specific relevant content for this request, if necessary, delimited with characters: Therefore, we as an adoring bride and loyal subject to the Only Living G-d, Our King, our source, and among other beautiful aspects of our respect for our Father, the Creator of the Universe and everything therein.

Before we begin the Study of the Tehillim / Psalms, reciting the Blessing/Prayer, we are fulfilling a mitzvah or sacred tradition on the merits of those Blessed Great Leaders who served HaShem with a joyful heart, and will, and might.; Blessing HaShem, of Glory and Truth’s beautiful Torah/Tanakh.

A Mitzvah is defined basically as:

  1. A commandment of the Jewish law.
  2. The fulfillment of such a commandment.
  3. A worthy deed.

As I play the video during the Live or uploaded lessons, please try and focus on the words being recited and center oneself in the present moment. This can be difficult at first, but after some time and or many lessons, there is no doubt in my mind that we both achieve our accomplished goal, preparedness in the presence of HaShem.

Just breathe.

Before each video lesson:

I want to do my utmost to ensure I am not leading others into improper practices. I want to ensure I repeat the Blessings before reciting the Psalms to HaShem, Our Merciful Father. We will play the after the Psalms Prayer at the completion of each video lesson.

Let Us Begin With Today’s Lesson!

1. Tehillim 23 Bible Study

A Psalm of David. The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He makes me to lie down in green pastures: he leads me beside the still waters.
He restores my soul: he leads me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.
Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for Thou art with me; Thy rod and Thy staff they comfort me.
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of my enemies: Thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runs over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever
.

I want to focus on a couple of words through out the Psalm so we can possibly gain a clearer terminology of what is being Praised about having an active relationship with our Creator.

What Are the Duties of a Shepherd?

Most shepherds take care of sheep, although they may be responsible for goats as well. They often work in isolated areas and may work independently except for the assistance of herding or guard dogs. Many sheepherders must be on call for their animals around the clock.

Flock Welfare

A shepherd’s primary responsibility is the safety and welfare of the flock. Some flocks may include as many as 1,000 sheep. The shepherd will graze the animals, herding them to areas of good forage, and keeping a watchful eye out for poisonous plants.

Protecting From Predators

Genesis 15:1

Therefore, the word of the Eternal came to him in a vision during the day, saying: “Fear not, Abram, I am your shield and protection, and your reward for trusting in Me will be exceedingly great.

Deuteronomy 28:10

God provides protection, much as a householder does upon formally recognizing someone as part of his household; cf. Isa. 4.1; Jer. 14.9; 2 Sam. 12.28. Cf. note at Deut. 1.31.

Deuteronomy 30: 1-6 explains to all Nations:

And it shall come to pass, when all these things are come upon thee, the blessing and the curse, which I have set before thee, and thou shalt call them to mind among all the nations, into which the Lord thy God has driven thee,

and shalt return to the Lord thy God, and shalt obey his voice according to all that I command thee this day, thou and thy children, with all thy heart, and with all thy soul;

that then the Lord thy God will turn thy captivity, and have compassion upon thee, and will return and gather thee from all the nations, amongst whom the Lord thy God has scattered thee.

If thy outcasts be at the utmost parts of heaven, from there will the Lord thy God gather thee, and from there will he fetch thee:

and the Lord thy God will bring thee into the land which thy fathers possessed, and thou shalt possess it; and he will do thee good, and multiply thee more than thy fathers.

And the Lord thy God will circumcise thy heart, and the heart of thy seed, to love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, that thou mayst live.

How do we know G-d, is directing His charge to all Nations?

During the class of Deuteronomy ch 29, we review this direction, in case others have not yet read the BLOG or have yet to have had the opportunity to watch the videos that links are provided.

More duties of the Shepherd:

Protecting Health

Like other animals, sheep are susceptible to diseases, and they must also be monitored during the lambing process. They may also be bothered by insects, some of which carry disease.

When one acknowledges G-d as their complete source in all aspects of one’s life, they enter into a covenant with the Blessed Holy One.

Recap on : What is a covenant

https://jewishencyclopedia.com/ explains the definition of a covenant as:

An agreement between two contracting parties, originally sealed with blood; a bond, or a law; a permanent religious dispensation. Every covenant required some kind of religious rite in which the Deity was invoked as a witness to render it valid (Gen. xxi. 23; Josh. ix. 19; Judges ix. 46; Jer. xxxiv. 18).

While in a good standing of the covenant with HaShem we…..

“Shall not lack”

What are the conditionalBlessingsof the covenant, promised to us from Almighty G-d?

Leviticus ch 26 1-14

You shall not make [false] idols for yourselves and graven images and memorial stones you shall not raise up for youselves, and a prostration stone you shall not set in your land upon which to prostrate oneself, for I am Adonoy, your God.

You shall keep [the days of] My Shabbosos and you shall fear (revere) [the House of] My Sanctuary, I am Adonoy.

Bechukotai

If you follow My statutes and keep My commandments and you will fulfill them,

I will provide your rains in their proper time. The earth shall give forth its produce and the tree of the field shall give forth its produce.

[Because of the abundant produce] threshing will overtake the grape harvest and the grape harvest overtake the [time to] plant, and you will eat your bread to satiation and you will live securely in your land.

I will grant peace in the land; you will lie down (sleep) [rest] without disturbance (fear). I will banish [nullify] evil beasts from the land, and no [people who kill with a] sword shall pass through your land.

You will pursue your enemies and they will fall before you by the sword.

Five of you will pursue one hundred and one hundred of you will pursue ten thousand, and your enemies will fall before you by the sword.

I will turn [with My Word to do good] to you and make you fruitful and multiply you, and establish My covenant with you.

You will eat the old [store] long kept and the old [store] you will have to clear out because of the new.

I will set My Sanctuary among you and My spirit [Word] will not loathe (reject) you.

I will walk [rest My Shechina] among you and I will be a God for you, and you will be My [before Me for a] people.

I am Adonoy your God who brought you out of the land of Egypt from where you were slaves, and I broke the bars of your yoke [of the peoples from you] and led you forth standing upright [to freedom].

Deuteronomy ch 28 1-14

When you hearken and obey Adonoy, your God, to be sure to perform all of His commandments that I am commanding you today; Adonoy, your God, will place you superior to all the nations of the earth.

All these blessings will come upon you and will reach you, when you obey Adonoy, your God.

Blessed are you in the city, and blessed are you in the field.

Blessed is the fruit of your belly, and the produce of your soil, and the offspring of your animals, the issue of your cattle and the flocks of your sheep and goats.

Blessed will be your [fruit] basket and your solid foods.

You will be blessed at your arrival, and blessed at your departure.

Adonoy will set your enemies who rise against you smitten before you; by one road will they approach you, but by seven roads they will flee from you.

Adonoy will order upon you the blessing in your storehouses and in all your commerce; and He will bless you in the land that Adonoy, your God, is giving you.

Adonoy will establish you for Himself as a holy people as He swore to you; when you will guard the commandments of Adonoy, your God, and will go in His ways.

And all the peoples of the earth will see that you are called by Adonoy’s Name and they will fear you.

Adonoy will give you surplus as benefit in the fruit of your belly, and the offspring of your animals, and the produce of your soil; upon the land that Adonoy swore to your forefathers to give you.

Adonoy will open for you His good storehouse, the sky, to give you your land’s rain on time and to bless all your endeavors; and you will lend to many nations, but you will not borrow.

Adonoy will place you at the head, not at the tail; and you will be solely on top, you will not be on the bottom; when you heed the commandments of Adonoy, your God, that I am commanding you today to guard and to perform.

“Thy rod and Thy staff”

It is simply that it was given through the merit of the ancestors who were called princes. Thus it is stated (in Ps. 105:41-42), “He opened a rock, and water gushed out […]. For he remembered His holy promise and His servant Abraham.” (Numb. 21:18, cont.:) “That the nobles of the people dug with the scepter, even with their own staffs.” The princes were standing by it, and each and every one drew [the water] with his own staff for his own tribe and for his own family. And the space between the [four] standards was filled with a [flow of] water that was gathering strength.- Midrash Tanchuma, Chukat 21:1

“Surely goodness and mercy”

One of the attributes of God, signifying His loving-kindness and mercy, and particularly His compassion for the weak, the unfortunate, and the sinful. It is in contrast with the attribute of justice, inasmuch as grace is granted even to the undeserving. The most significant Scriptural passage is in Exodus (xxxiv. 6): “The Lord, The Lord God, merciful and gracious, long-suffering, and abundant in goodness and truth.” The relation of this attribute of grace to God’s justice is not always clearly defined in the Old Testament. Righteousness, however, is taken to be so comprehensive that it includes all moral perfection, of which all virtues are a necessary corollary. Often grace and justice are used in parallel construction (Ps. lxxxix. 15; ci. 1; ciii. 6, 8). Jonah found it difficult to reconcile grace and righteousness (see Hamburger, “R. B. T.” i., s.v. “Gnade und Barmherzigkeit”; Jonah iii. 8-9; iv. 2, 11), and the divine answer states that grace divine is extended not only to the chosen people, but also to the heathen; it is conditioned, however, on sincere repentance. The Book of Jonah is particularly intended to teach divine grace in its universal aspect (see Driver, “Introduction to the Literature of the Old Testament,” p. 303). However, the other books of the Bible are also replete with this idea, as Deuteronomy, where the existence of divine grace is cited as a guaranty that God will keep His covenant with Israel (iv. 31), and grace is promised as a result of obedience (xiii. 18-19

In the Talmud divine grace is designated by the term , the attribute of mercy, in contradistinction to , the attribute of justice.

In creating the world God combined the two attributes: “Thus said the Holy One, blessed be His name! ‘If I create the world with the attribute of mercy, sin will abound; and if I create it with the attribute of justice, how can the world exist? Therefore I create it with both attributes, mercy and justice, and may it thus endure'” (Gen. R. xii. 15). The same is asserted about the creation of man (Gen. R. xxi. 8). This interpretation is based on the supposition, often expressed by the sages, that “Elohim” implies the quality of justice, and the Tetragrammaton the attribute of mercy (see Ex. R. vi. 2; Ber. 60b). God is sometimes called  (“the Merciful One”: Lev. R. xvii. 4).

According to the sages, divine grace is given to those who are merciful to their fellow men (Gen. R. xxx. 3; Shab. 151b); about those who study the Law God draws a cord of grace () in the future world (Ḥag. 12b). Grace is given to some because of the merit of their ancestors, to others because of the merit of their descendants (Gen. R. xxix. 5). The righteous have the power to change the attribute of justice to the attribute of mercy (ib. xxxiii. 4). The contrast between man’s cruelty and God’s grace is shown in Men. 99b; ‘Er. 19a. As laws of grace and mercy are interpreted Lev. xxii. 27, 28; xxv. 6; Deut. xxii. 7 (see Deut. R. vi. 1). Rabbi Jose, however, declares that these commandments are not founded on grace, but are divine decrees for which no reason may be given (Ber. 33bMeg. 25a).

Grace of G-d has always existed: chen

The Hebrew word for grace is (hen), which is often translated into different English words like ‘precious’ or ‘valuable’. However, the Hebrew original does not always use hen in defining grace.2 In Genesis 6:8, the Hebrew word for grace is given in its Semitic root, chen Cheth Nun, which means favor. The Semitic root is used to make a play on the word Noah, which is chen spelled backward Nun Cheth – Noach, which means rest. Jewish rabbis challenge this and say the Hebrew triliteral root is Cheth, Nun, Hei, which means to encamp and set up tents.1 The Hebrew word for grace is chet, which means mercy, and the plural form of the word is chen, which consists of the Hebrew letters chet and noon, meaning ‘pitched tent’ or ‘camp’. In biblical Hebrew, the word for grace is chet, but in English, it is chan. The Greek word for grace is hesed, which means ‘kindness’ and is equivalent to ‘grace’

How does chen/ grace, The Story of Noah, Story of Joanah, and Tehillim Psalm/ 23 all tie this together?

The rabbis were not so much critical of Noach – as he is paid the highest of compliments, throughout the Torah as a righteous person – but they were wary of him. I have often felt that this attitude is born of the idea that Rashi himself states in commenting upon the origin of Noach’s name. Rashi makes a point that the name Noach should not be construed as a derivative of the Hebrew word “nacheim” – meaning to comfort – but rather it is derived from the other Hebrew word “noach” – meaning, rest, leisure, comfortable but not comfort as in consolation.

This is another reason why Moses our Blessed Teacher was a Prophet like no other….

Moses, of Blessed Memory, showed Divine grace to those around Him. Moses shared His love of HaShem and Torah against the greatest of odds and difficulty. King David of Blessed memory continued this heritage of divine grace and mercy, Despite family and friends came against Moses and King David they pressed on and forth aiming to achieve thier mission in following the Commandments of HaShem. It is for this reason we too can look to HaShem, Torah, and Tanakh knowing with full explains of G-d’s love for those who love Him that no matter our own humanly handicaps we too can conquor this world and worldly ways in order to achieve closeness with the Holy Blessed One.

Then we too can sing…..

#thankyouHaShem

Amen and Amen … #thankyouHaShem
Congratulations! you have made through the first Lesson in studying the Tehillim/ Psalms….. #23

Yeesa Adonai panav elecha viyasem lecha shalom
“The L-d bless you and keep you;

FOR THOSE THAT ARE NEW TO THIS BIBLE STUDY.

Welcome, the following is a brief review of this Bible Study.

1. This BLOG post will have the resources and sources links for the Season 6 Bible Studies.

2. All Books used and Readings from during Live Bible Study can be found on Our Website: Marie Speaks GOD’s Grace. Live in the Bible Study Blogs portion of the website.

3. After Live Bible Studies have completed: I will upload to Rumble and Youtube, and post link in this BLOG. How we conduct Bible Studies here:

We believe in One and Only One G-D. HaShem; The G-D of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. We do not and will not Pray in any others name or Praise any other, but HaShem.

Exodus chapter 20: 2-14.God spoke all these words, saying:I the LORD am your God who brought you out of the land of Egypt, the house of bondage:You shall have no other gods besides Me.You shall not make for yourself a sculptured image, or any likeness of what is in the heavens above, or on the earth below, or in the waters under the earth. You shall not bow down to them or serve them. For I the LORD your God am an impassioned God, visiting the guilt of the parents upon the children, upon the third and upon the fourth generations of those who reject Me, but showing kindness to the thousandth generation of those who love Me and keep My commandments.

We believe G-D has called each of us to search matters out. (It is the glory of God to conceal a matter, And the glory of a king to plumb a matter.Like the heavens in their height, like the earth in its depth, Is the mind of kings—unfathomable. Proverbs 25:2 -3)

This is one reason why here at Marie Speaks G-D’s Grace Bible Study, we review several historical references and resources, of which we provide links and or screen shots for others to study at their leisure. We have been directed by G-D Wonderful and Almighty, to go Book by Book, Verse by Verse; sharing HIS Torah and Tanakh. We believe as directed by G-D Our Heavenly Father, learning and growing in Torah and Tanakh leads to understanding and wisdom; this shall only be achieved in reading, studying, and sharing HIS Word for ourselves; not relying on man.

Learning, growing, and studying with OUR L-D is to be done with others that are like minded, but more so during our personal time.

The BLOGs are written to assist those just beginning to study the BIBLE as a starting point. The Live or recorded Bible Studies are to cover and release opportunities and guidance, but ultimately is ones own personal responsibility to rule, govern, and be purposeful in their relationship with G-D.

Proverbs 22: 4 thru 6The effect of humility is fear of the LORD, Wealth, honor, and life.Thorns and snares are in the path of the crooked; He who values his life will keep far from them.Train a lad in the way he ought to go; He will not swerve from it even in old age.

Ezekiel 18: 20 thru 22The person who sins, he alone shall die. A child shall not share the burden of a parent’s guilt, nor shall a parent share the burden of a child’s guilt; the righteousness of the righteous shall be accounted to him alone, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be accounted to him alone. Moreover, if the wicked one repents of all the sins that he committed and keeps all My laws and does what is just and right, he shall live; he shall not die.None of the transgressions he committed shall be remembered against him; because of the righteousness he has practiced, he shall live. Is it my desire that a wicked person shall die?—says the L-d G-D. It is rather that he shall turn back from his ways and live.

May HaShem, Blessed be He, continue to Bless us all and may we all be forever written in the Book of Life. O’Amein and O’AmeinA little about me: I love HaShem, TORAH, and Tanakh!!!!! I am not perfect!!!!

If we meet: We talking about Torah, drinking tea or coffee, and what books are out about HaShem! And maybe over some kosher pizza… maybe over some kosher steak…make over super sweet kosher cake ……. have a fun laugh about you guess it… Torah! Or on a bike, or  during a hike,  or while riding on a train in the rain as the rain falls nicely on the plain in Spain….., but either way…..We’ll be talking about TORAH!!!!

What is import to me:……..A relationship with Our Father  HaShem, Our Merciful Creator, Savior, and Wise King. Live in Torah, live with Family and community of Tribe.

My thoughts: We may not be perfect, but we study, we learn, we laugh, & we grow; we try try and have the courage to try again.

My goals: To learn, and grow, and share Love of Torah in HaShem with others who are willing or open to hearing. HaShem is my refuge, my strength, my confidant, and my true resting place.I have been using the minds.com account and Rumble (Live Bible Study video Post: Rumble  )as main accounts.

Lastly, NEVER LOSE FAITH, Hope, and have Courage!!!!Let’s continue to Fear and Love HaShem like a משיח and Pray.

PRAY FOR OUR NATION, enemies, fellows, and many lost Sons and Daughters of Torah to return to HaShem, Blessed be He, for ever and ever Amen.  HaShem is with me … I shall not be afraid!!!!!

Blessings and Prayers.

with Love truly,

Marie
