Marie Speaks G-d’s Grace Bible Study.

This is Season 7 of Marie Speaks G-d’s Grace.

I hope everyone has been enjoying this seasons BLOGS so far:

Bereshit/ Genesis ch 1: In the beginning Elohim created the heavens and the earth ,

Bereshit/ Genesis ch 2: When Adam met Eve ,

Bereshit Genesis ch 3: Lilith  big mad and the Serpent beguiled Chava.

Bereshit Genesis ch 4,5,6 and maybe 7

In which, we reviewed and discussed Merciful HaShem , the Blessed Holy One singing the world into creation, the formation of Adam- A’dam the Man and Eve/ Chava The Woman, Woman giving- “in” into The Serpent, The Serpent being cursed, and Lilith being oh so very mad; next we shall discuss how those events lead to a little thing called #history or his’story. Recap……We discussed in Bereshit Genesis ch 4, 5, 6, and 7…. the process of man’s corruption.

In Jewish Legends, behind the story of creation and the environment of the world and its inhabitants that proved the flood necessary, in chapters 4, 5, 6, and maybe 7. #sosatisficing, as well as review some more misinterpreted Christian texts regarding the several books of the Torah and Tanakh or other Jewish teaching/thoughts.

This week we will continue discussing several chapters in one BLOG and possibly a couple of videos, depending on the length. Or maybe we’ll just make it a Bible Study strength and endurance marathon?! Who knows?!

We are going to do something different. We will get into some history. Yes, history. One of my favorite topics of discussion. We want to go through the key points I believe will point us in preparation for the later lesson of reviewing possible cases of #stolenvalor. Spoiler alert: I don’t believe we can truly believe what has been written in history books or even supposed replicas of records of history.

What to expect this this Season 7 and Bible Study Lesson:

We will begin to review from the beginning of the First Book of Moses the Word of the Holy Blessed One, Bereshit/Genesis. Throughout each chapter, we will review, learn, examine, and study. This will lead us to examine this season, unveiling as we investigate cases of Stolen Valor. Along with this great task, we will continue to increase our intro Hebrew vocabulary, with an intro to Hebrew terminology, coupled with a version of The Tanakh (the actual Jewish Bible, that means no “new testament”) introduction, and will always be rooted in Torah Spiritual Teaching.

The books, sources, and resources or references I will do my best to make sure are hyperlinked for others to review and study at their own leisure and for gaining in self-learning/teaching. The books, sources, and resources or references that we share here at mariespeaksgodsgrace.live, are not commonly found or promoted by the internet, therefore we do our best to provide the Torah filled information for others not to be led towards secular or pagan or idolatry propaganda lifestyles.

The books I use to aide me in my research this Season 7 / Lesson are from my personal home library:

***I am not paid to endorse nor am affiliated***

The some of the sources we will be using are listed below for others to enjoy on their own time.

**** again****I am not paid to endorse nor affiliated with any source or reference. I enjoy sharing with others and allowing them the opportunity to meet the Only True Living G-d.

My goal is to help and assist others by studying Torah , researching Torah sages information and teachings, applying in life the lessons taught by our sages of Blessed memory and today, then learning and sharing/teaching what I have learned or experienced. This rounds out my personal experiences in any moment or season of life, thus forming a reality.

This reality is a living, yes living, energy frequency.

Physical And Spiritual

Able to raise higher and higher (G-d willing) and be adjusted as more experiences and new learning take place. These are my attempts at improving myself and hoping to leave the part of the world I have been placed, in better state than before (if needed) and the people I encounter (if possible). People and or places, I am so very blessed to encounter, G-d willing, will have a positive (frequency strong hold/ pillar of success for G-d’s Glory) experience of their own that will ultimately lead them to… you guessed it… G-d and His Holy Torah.

This Is Not Forced Or Coerced, Nor Manipulated.

With full acceptance of my own and others free will, (given to us by the Holy Creator), therefore at the end of the day one’s own education is determined by their efforts, intentions, and perseverance of truth.

Everyone has a responsibility to their own life, experiences, learning, and education (to name a few), in seeking and finding truth forming their reality.

TRUTH

I believe all truth comes from G-d and was given to us in His Holy Torah, and then lived out in the Tanakh. To be clear I believe all Truth comes from the G-d of Abraham, Issac, and Jacob and was given to us through His Prophet Moses to teach to the world and all those who love Him, know, Him and call Him by name and live by His Torah.

In order to understand, realize, and learn the truth, we should attempt, to the highest degree possible, to learn terminology, and then share this beauty with others who are open.

So What Is Terminology?

Terminology, as defined by Wikipedia, is:

Terminology is a group of specialized words and respective meanings in a particular field, and also the study of such terms and their use; the latter meaning is also known as terminology science.A term is a word, compound word, or multi-word expressions that in specific contexts is given specific meanings—these may deviate from the meanings the same words have in other contexts and in everyday language.

Terminology is a discipline that studies, among other things, the development of such terms and their interrelationships within a specialized domain.

Terminology is a discipline that systematically studies the “labelling or designating of concepts” particular to one or more subject fields or domains of human activity. It does this through the research and analysis of terms in context for the purpose of documenting and promoting consistent usage.

Let’s get into….. Today’s Torah verses of study

Blessing of the Torah:
Blessed are You, HaShem our God, King of the Universe, Who sanctified us with His commandments and commanded us to be engrossed in the words of Torah.
HaShem our God, please make the words of Your Torah pleasant in our mouths and in the mouths of Your people Israel. And may we and our descendants [and the descendants of our descendants] and the descendants of Your people the House of Israel, all know Your Name and be students of Your Torah for its own sake.
Blessed are You, HaShem Who teaches Torah to His people, Israel.
Blessed are You, HaShem our God, King of the Universe Who chose us from among all the peoples and gave us His Torah. Blessed are You, HaShem, Giver of the Torah!

Bereshit ch 8

Vayizkor Elohim et-Noach ve’et kol-hachayah ve’et-kol-habehemah asher ito batevah vaya’aver Elohim ruach al-ha’arets vayashoku hamayim.

Elohim remembered Noach, and all the beasts and all the animals that were with him in the ark. Elohim caused a wind to blow over the earth and the water subsided.

So the word we are going to focus on in this verse is remembered וַיִּזְכֹּ֤ר Vayizkor. This word is such a beautiful and illuminating word. To be remembered by the Blessed Holy One, isn’t anything like how humans remember or recall or try to put together something that one may have overlooked at a time. No, what I believe happens when we read the word remembered וַיִּזְכֹּ֤ר Vayizkor is very similar to shvakheem (praise(s)) and recount (sfeer-ah ot khoz eret).

Below is the Blog with video link of the Hebrew and Jewish Word of the Week, in which we reviewed the terminology behind the words remembered וַיִּזְכֹּ֤ר Vayizkor is very similar to shvakheem (praise(s)) and recount (sfeer-ah ot khoz eret).

See for a little over one entire year Noach in his family were in the ark.

  • Rain: It rained for 40 days and 40 nights, covering the highest mountains to a depth of 15 cubits.
  • Flooding: The waters prevailed on the earth for 150 days.
  • Subsidence: The waters gradually receded from the earth.
  • Ark resting: The ark came to rest on the mountains of Ararat.
  • Earth dry: The earth was dry on the 27th day of the second month of Noah’s six hundred and first year.

If Rabbi Brave Browser is correct the following is possible: According to the Bible, Noah left the ark on the 27th day of the first month of Noah’s 601st year. The ark was uncovered on the first day of the first month and opened on the 27th day.

Some say Noah, exited the ark the second month****.

The months of the Hebrew calendar are:

  • Nisan: March–April, 30 days
  • Iyar: April–May, 29 days
  • Sivan: May–June, 30 days
  • Tammuz: June–July, 29 days
  • Av: July–August, 30 days
  • Elul: August–September, 29 days
  • Tishrei: September–October, 30 days
  • Heshvan: October–November, 29 or 30 days
  • Kislev: November–December, 30 or 29 days
  • Tevet: December–January, 29 days
  • Shevat: January–February, 30 days
  • Adar I: February–March, 30 days, only in leap years
  • Adar II: February–March, 29 days, only in leap years

Here are some holidays and festivals that are celebrated in the Hebrew calendar, in order of the months in which they take place:

  • Rosh Hashanah The Jewish New Year, celebrated on the first and second days of the month of Tishrei. It is believed that this is the day when God created the Earth.
  • Yom Kippur The Day of Atonement, which takes place on the tenth day of Tishrei. It is considered by many to be the holiest day in the Jewish calendar.
  • Passover Celebrated in the spring in the month of Nisan, also known as Abib. It commemorates the Hebrews’ liberation from slavery in Egypt.
  • Shavuot The Festival of Weeks, celebrated on the sixth day of Sivan. It commemorates the giving of the Law on Mount Sinai.
  • Yom HaShoah Holocaust Remembrance Day, celebrated on the 27th of Nisan. If the 27th falls on a Sabbath, Yom HaShoah is moved to the previous day.
  • Chanukah An eight-day holiday that begins on the 25th of Kislev. It commemorates the rededication of the Temple after it was desecrated by foreign invaders.
  • Purim A holiday that commemorates Queen Esther saving the Jewish people in Persia.
  • Sukkot A celebration of the fall harvest that also commemorates the Hebrews’ time in the Sinai wilderness.
  • Simchat Torah A day that celebrates the conclusion of the annual cycle of public Torah readings and the beginning of a new cycle.

If one were to compare the Flood of Noah with the Exodus of Moses, one might find several similarities. As well, there are similarities between the Ark of Noah and the Ark of Moses, both of which lead to a covenant. Noah and his family, along with all of creation, as we will read in a few moments, are offered and accept a covenant with the Blessed Holy One. Moses, the nation of Israel, and all those who chose to leave Egypt with them are offered and receive a covenant with the Blessed Holy One at Har Sinai. Both covenants have symbols, guidance, and laws.

God’s Covenant with Noah

After the devastating flood which destroyed all breathing creations and included the destruction of the earth, G-d made a covenant with Noah, his family, and all living creatures. This covenant, known as the Noahic Covenant, is recorded in Genesis 9:8-17.

Key Aspects of the Covenant according to Rabbi Search Engine.

  1. Unconditional: The covenant is based solely on God’s faithfulness, without any conditions or requirements from Noah or his descendants.
  2. Promise of No Future Floods: God promises never again to destroy the earth with a flood, ensuring the continued existence of life on earth.
  3. Sign of the Covenant: The rainbow becomes a visible symbol of God’s covenant, appearing in the clouds as a reminder of His promise.
  4. Injunctions: Two commands are given to Noah and his descendants: to refrain from consuming animal blood and to punish those who take human life with death.

Significance of the Covenant

The Noahic Covenant marks a new beginning for humanity, as God establishes a relationship with Noah and his descendants, promising to preserve the earth and its inhabitants. This covenant also sets the stage for God’s future interactions with humanity, including the call of Abraham and the establishment of the Mosaic Covenant.

In Conclusion

God’s covenant with Noah after the flood demonstrates His mercy and faithfulness, as well as His commitment to preserving creation. The rainbow, a symbol of this covenant, serves as a reminder of God’s promise to never again destroy the earth with a flood, and His ongoing relationship with humanity.

Covenant at Mount Sinai

Mount Sinai is a significant location in the Torah, where God revealed the Ten Commandments to the Israelites. According to the biblical account, the Israelites arrived at the foot of Mount Sinai after leaving Egypt (Exodus 19:1-2). The mountain was enveloped in smoke, fire, and a thick cloud, and the sound of a shofar (ram’s horn) blast shook the mountain (Exodus 19:16-19).

The Revelation

At Mount Sinai, God spoke directly to the Israelites, giving them the Ten Commandments (Exodus 20:1-17). The Torah describes the event as a national revelation, where the entire people, including men, women, and children, heard God’s voice and saw the manifestations of God’s presence (Exodus 19:16-25, 20:18-21).

The Written and Oral Torah

The Torah also emphasizes that at Mount Sinai, God gave not only the Written Torah (the Five Books of Moses) but also the Oral Torah, which consisted of the initial, unwritten teachings and interpretations of the commandments (Exodus 24:12). This Oral Torah was later transmitted orally and written down by sages and scholars, becoming the foundation of Rabbinic Judaism.

Significance

Mount Sinai remains a pivotal event in Jewish tradition and theology, symbolizing the covenant between God and the Israelites. The Torah’s account of the revelation at Sinai has been interpreted and reinterpreted throughout Jewish history, with various traditions and thinkers focusing on different aspects of the event.

In truth several questions are answered:

Why does G-d, need to remember? Surely G-d, doesn’t forget ?!?

What is a covenant?

Whom or what did, the Blessed Holy One, make a covenant?

Is there such a thing a multi-layered covenants?

So what is the definition of covenant?- An agreement between two contracting parties, originally sealed with blood; a bond, or a law; a permanent religious dispensation.

JewishEncyclopledia.com

There are many covenants in the Tanakh, including:

  • Noahic covenantMade with Noah after the Flood, this covenant was to last until the earth passed away. It was an ongoing covenant between God and all of Noah’s descendants.
  • Covenant with AbrahamGod made this covenant with Abraham, promising him blessings of land and great nationhood for his descendants.
  • Covenant with MosesGod made this covenant with Moses and the Jewish people, renewing the one he had made with Abraham. God also gave the Jews the Ten Commandments at this time.

Other types of covenants include:

  • Parity covenant Made between people of approximately equal status, this covenant was usually entered into willingly by both parties.
  • Suzerain covenant This type of covenant is between a Lord and a servant, usually initiated via a land grant and loyalty pledge.

Covenants are a record of the terms of a relationship, and reading them can teach us about the components and terms of that relationship.

Why is covenant אֶת־בְּרִיתִ֖י et-beriti and remember וַיִּזְכֹּ֤ר Vayizkor of an importance focus?

Both covenant and remember are about drawing near or being drawn near to the Creator. Some might say G-d gave special thought to Noah and all of creation, the same special thought that took place within G-d before G-d spoke the world into creation or existence. Therefore, in a way, when G-d says G-d remember or is making a covenant, the Holy Blessed One is drawing near to His creation. This drawing near is G-d, opening up is hand in hand to receive with what we may know as Teshuva or Repentance. And to recap, before the world was created G-d, In His great wisdom created Teshuva/ Repentance, in order for live on earth to not be destroyed in righteous judgement… possibly every 5 minutes… jk. but maybe.

Bereshit Genesis ch 8 verse 2:

The wellsprings of the deep were closed, and [so were] the windows of the heavens, and the downpour from the heavens was withheld.

The water hamayim receded from the earth ha’arets continually, and the waters hamayim diminished at the end of one hundred and fifty days chamishim ume’at yom.

The ark rested in the seventh month, on the seventeenth day of the month, upon the mountains of Ararat.

#funfacts , #History, and #Commentary:

In Europe, the mountain has been called by the name Ararat since the Middle Ages, as it began to be identified with “mountains of Ararat” described in the Bible as the resting-place of Noah’s Ark, despite contention that Genesis 8:4 does not refer specifically to a Mount Ararat.

Although lying outside the borders of modern Armenia, the mountain is the principal national symbol of Armenia and has been considered a sacred mountain by Armenians. It has featured prominently in Armenian literature and art and is an icon for Armenian irredentism. It is depicted on the coat of arms of Armenia along with Noah’s Ark.

History and a possible case of Stolen Valor:

A case of Stolen Valor:

Definition of Stolen Valor: Stolen valor is a term used to describe the act of falsely claiming to be a veteran or active duty member of the military, or to have received military honors or awards. The goal of these false claims is to deceive others into believing the individual is a decorated military hero in order to gain money, property, or other benefits.

Now that we know the definition of Stolen Valor, let’s read what Christianity transpired in history at the location where it is said the Ark of Noah settled… Mountains Ararat.

The presence of Armenians in Anatolia has been documented since the sixth century BCE, about 1,500 years before the arrival of Turkmens under the Seljuk dynasty.[5] The Kingdom of Armenia adopted Christianity as its national religion in the fourth century CE, establishing the Armenian Apostolic Church.

My question is: Who is said to have lived in the area prior to the 6th century?

Well Rabbi Search engine says the following the time of Noah:

It is said that Noah lived in the 3rd millennium:The 3rd millennium BC spanned the years 3000 to 2001 BC. This period of time corresponds to the Early to Middle Bronze Age, characterized by the early empires in the Ancient Near East. In Ancient Egypt, the Early Dynastic Period is followed by the Old Kingdom. In Mesopotamia, the Early Dynastic Period is followed by the Akkadian Empire. In what is now Northwest India and Pakistan, the Indus Valley civilization developed a state society.

Fast forward to the…..

The 6th century BC started on the first day of 600 BC and ended on the last day of 501 BC.

In Western Asia, the first half of this century was dominated by the Neo-Babylonian Empire, which had risen to power late in the previous century after successfully rebelling against Assyrian rule. The Kingdom of Judah came to an end in 586 BC when Babylonian forces under Nebuchadnezzar II captured Jerusalem, and removed most of its population to their own lands. Babylonian rule was ended in the 540s by Cyrus, who founded the Persian Empire in its stead. The Persian Empire continued to expand and grew into the greatest empire the world had known at the time.

In Iron Age Europe, the Celtic expansion was in progress. China was in the Spring and Autumn period.

Which brings me to the question: Who or what group of people were really persecuted in the Armenian genocide?

The Armenian genocide[a] was the systematic destruction of the Armenian people and identity in the Ottoman Empire during World War I. Spearheaded by the ruling Committee of Union and Progress (CUP), it was implemented primarily through the mass murder of around one million Armenians during death marches to the Syrian Desert and the forced Islamization of others, primarily women and children.

Before World War I, Armenians occupied a somewhat protected, but subordinate, place in Ottoman society. Large-scale massacres of Armenians had occurred in the 1890s and 1909. The Ottoman Empire suffered a series of military defeats and territorial losses—especially during the 1912–1913 Balkan Wars—leading to fear among CUP leaders that the Armenians would seek independence. During their invasion of Russian and Persian territory in 1914, Ottoman paramilitaries massacred local Armenians. Ottoman leaders took isolated instances of Armenian resistance as evidence of a widespread rebellion, though no such rebellion existed. Mass deportation was intended to permanently forestall the possibility of Armenian autonomy or independence.

On 24 April 1915, the Ottoman authorities arrested and deported hundreds of Armenian intellectuals and leaders from Constantinople. At the orders of Talaat Pasha, an estimated 800,000 to 1.2 million Armenians were sent on death marches to the Syrian Desert in 1915 and 1916. Driven forward by paramilitary escorts, the deportees were deprived of food and water and subjected to robbery, rape, and massacres. In the Syrian Desert, the survivors were dispersed into concentration camps. In 1916, another wave of massacres was ordered, leaving about 200,000 deportees alive by the end of the year. Around 100,000 to 200,000 Armenian women and children were forcibly converted to Islam and integrated into Muslim households. Massacres and ethnic cleansing of Armenian survivors continued through the Turkish War of Independence after World War I, carried out by Turkish nationalists.

This genocide put an end to more than two thousand years of Armenian civilization in eastern Anatolia. Together with the mass murder and expulsion of Assyrian/Syriac and Greek Orthodox Christians, it enabled the creation of an ethnonationalist Turkish state, the Republic of Turkey. The Turkish government maintains that the deportation of Armenians was a legitimate action that cannot be described as genocide. As of 2023, 34 countries have recognized the events as genocide, concurring with the academic consensus.

As many of us have possibly observed in more recent times, news sources and texts cannot be trusted. Parties with a corrupt agenda often organize true enemies of society as victims and paint heathens as saints. I believe such is the case with the Armenian Genocide. I believe Jews and Christians were both targets in Armenia, just as I believe Jews are being targeted in the Ukraine War, just as I believe Jews and Noachim, were targeted in several other locations around the world.

Bereshit. Genesis ch 8 verse 5

The waters continued to diminish until the tenth month Tamuz. In the tenth [month] Tamuz, on the first of the month Tishrei, the mountaintops became visible.

At the end of forty days אַרְבָּעִ֣ים י֑וֹם arba’im yom, Noach opened the window of the ark which he had made.

He sent out the raven et-ha’orev אֶת־הָֽעֹרֵ֑ב, and it went out, going to and fro until the water on the land dried up.

He [then] sent the dove אֶת־הַיּוֹנָ֖ה et-hayonah to see if the water הַמַּ֔יִם hamayim had subsided from the surface of the ground פְּנֵ֥י הָֽאֲדָמָֽה peney ha’adamah..

The dove אֶת־הַיּוֹנָ֖ה et-hayonah found no [place to] rest her foot. She returned to him into the ark, for the water was upon the surface of the whole earth. He put out his hand and took her and brought her to him, into the ark.

He waited another seven days שִׁבְעַ֥ת יָמִ֖ים shiv’at yamim, and once again sent the dove אֶת־הַיּוֹנָ֖ה et-hayonah out of the ark.

The dove אֶת־הַיּוֹנָ֖ה et-hayonah came to him toward evening לְעֵ֣ת עֶ֔רֶב le’et erev, and behold, in her mouth was a torn off olive leaf. Noach knew then that the water had subsided from the earth.

He waited yet another seven days שִׁבְעַ֥ת יָמִ֖ים shiv’at yamim and sent out the dove אֶת־הַיּוֹנָ֖ה et-hayonah ; it did not return to him again.

It was in the six hundredth and first year, in the first [month] Tishrei , on the first of the month, that the water on earth [began] to dry. Noach removed the covering of the ark. He looked and behold the surface of the ground had dried.

וּבַחֹ֙דֶשׁ֙ הַשֵּׁנִ֔י בְּשִׁבְעָ֧ה וְעֶשְׂרִ֛ים י֖וֹם לַחֹ֑דֶשׁ יָבְשָׁ֖ה הָאָֽרֶץ׃ {ס}

In the second month Cheshvan, on the twenty seventh day of the month, the earth was [completely] dry.

Elohim spoke to Noach, saying,

Depart from the ark, yourself and your wife, your sons, and your son’s wives with you.

Every living thing that is with you, of all flesh, [including] birds, animals, every creeping creature that creeps on the earth, let them depart with you. Let them spread over the earth, and be fruitful and multiply on the earth.

Noach departed [from the ark together with] his sons, his wife and son’s wives.

Every living thing, every creeping creature, every bird, everything that creeps on the earth, departed from the ark according to their families.

Noach built an altar to Adonoy, and took of every [ritually] clean animal and of every [ritually] clean bird, and brought up burnt-offerings on the altar.

Hold up wait a minute….. I got questions??!?!?!?!?!?!??!??

Why a burnt offering? How was the burnt offering conducted? How did Noach know to give a burnt offering is the Torah did not instruct to do so until Har Sinai?

The Offerings:Mode of Sacrifice.

These were wholly animal, and the victims were wholly consumed. They might be from the herd or the flock, or in cases of poverty birds might be substituted. The offerings acceptable were: (a) young bullocks; (b) rams or goats of the first year; (c) turtle-doves or young pigeons. These animals were to be free from all disease or blemish.
They were to be brought to the door of the tabernacle, and the offerer was to kill them on the north side of the altar (if a burnt offering), except in the public sacrifices, when the priest put the victims to death, being assisted on occasion by the Levites (II Chron. xxix. 34).

The blood was then sprinkled around the altar. The victim, if a large animal, was flayed and divided; the pieces being placed above the wood on the altar, the skin only being left to the priest. If the offering was a bird a similar operation was performed, except that the victim was not entirely divided. The fire which consumed the offerings was never allowed to go out, since they were slowly consumed; and the several kinds of sacrifice furnished constant material for the flames. Every morning the ashes were conveyed by the priest to a clean place outside the camp (Ex. xxix. 38-42; Lev. i., vi. 8-13, ix. 12-14; Num. xv.).

Many sites teach that Noach was a pre-Jewish Law prototype of a Jew. Others teach that Noach was a non-Jew. Ok, fine I’ll bite…. then why is a burnt offering being conducted by a non-Jew to G-d, and why is G-d accepting the burnt offering?

These questions lead me to look up or search the generations of Noach:

Noah’s Family Line

According to biblical accounts, Noah’s family consisted of himself, his wife, and his three sons: Shem, Ham, and Japheth. After the Great Flood, these sons and their wives repopulated the earth.

Noah’s Sons and Their Descendants

Shem

His descendants included Abraham, the patriarch of the Israelites, and the Arabs. Shem’s lineage is considered the primary line of descent for the Israelites and Jews.

Ham

His descendants included the Canaanites, who inhabited the land of Canaan, and the Egyptians. Ham’s lineage is also associated with the cursed descendants who received the judgment of God for their wickedness.

Japheth

His descendants included the peoples of the Mediterranean region, such as the Greeks and Italians, as well as the Scythians and other northern tribes.

The 16 Grandsons of Noah

The Bible mentions 16 grandsons of Noah, who became the heads of their respective family clans. These clans eventually gave rise to various nations and populations:

  • Gomer (son of Japheth) – ancestors of the Galatians/Gauls
  • Magog (son of Japheth) – ancestors of the Scythians
  • Madai (son of Japheth) – ancestors of the Medes
  • Javan (son of Japheth) – ancestors of the Ionians/Greeks
  • Tubal (son of Japheth) – ancestors of the Tubal-Cainites
  • Meshech (son of Japheth) – ancestors of the Mosochites
  • Tiras (son of Japheth) – ancestors of the islands of the Aegean Sea
  • Elam (son of Shem) – ancestors of the Elamites
  • Ashur (son of Shem) – ancestors of the Assyrians
  • Arphaxad (son of Shem) – ancestors of the Chaldeans/Babylonians
  • Lud (son of Shem) – ancestors of the Lydians
  • Aram (son of Shem) – ancestors of the Syrians
  • Canaan (son of Ham) – ancestors of the Canaanites

These 16 grandsons of Noah are considered the founders of the major nations and populations that existed in the ancient world.

The list of 70 names introduces for the first time several well-known ethnonyms and toponyms important to biblical geography,[4] such as Noah’s three sons ShemHam, and Japheth, from which 18th-century German scholars at the Göttingen school of history derived the race terminology SemitesHamites, and Japhetites. Certain of Noah’s grandsons were also used for names of peoples: from ElamAshurAramCush, and Canaan were derived respectively the Elamites, AssyriansArameansCushites, and Canaanites. Likewise, from the sons of Canaan: Heth, Jebus, and Amorus were derived HittitesJebusites, and Amorites. Further descendants of Noah include Eber (from Shem), the hunter-king Nimrod (from Cush), and the Philistines (from Misrayim).

This is a huge rabbit hole…. but aren’t those listed above, all enemies of the Nation of Israel? I’m confused, but I’ll se this aside and remember this for later.

Bereshit Genesis ch 8 verse 21:

Adonoy smelled the pleasing fragrance, and Adonoy said in His heart, Never again will I curse the ground because of man, for the inclination of man’s heart is evil from [the time of] his youth. I will never again smite every living thing as I have done.

So long as the earth exists, seed-time and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night, will never be suspended.

Elohim blessed Noach and his sons. He said to them, Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth.

Your fear and terror will be upon every wild beast of the earth, and upon every bird in the heavens. All that creeps on the ground, and all the fish of the sea, are given into your hands.

Every moving creature that lives, shall be yours for food; like the green vegetation [which I gave previously] I have [now] given you everything [for food].

Nevertheless, flesh with its lifeblood, you shall not eat.

However, of the blood of your souls, I will demand an account; from the hand of every beast will I demand it. From the hand of man, even from the hand of man’s own brother, will I demand an account of man’s soul.

He who spills the blood of man, through man shall his blood be spilled, for in the image of Elohim, He made man.

וְאַתֶּ֖ם פְּר֣וּ וּרְב֑וּ שִׁרְצ֥וּ בָאָ֖רֶץ וּרְבוּ־בָֽהּ׃ {ס}

And now be fruitful and multiply, spread throughout the earth and multiply on it.

I will keep My covenant with you, that never again will all flesh be cut off by flood waters, never again will flood waters destroy the earth.

Elohim said, This is the sign of the covenant that I pledge between Myself and you, and between every living creature that is with you, for the generations of all time.

I have set My [rain] bow in the clouds, and it shall be a sign of the covenant between Myself and the earth.

At a time when I bring clouds over the earth, the [rain] bow will be seen in the clouds.

I shall remember My covenant that is between Myself and you, and between every living soul in all flesh, that never again will flood waters destroy all flesh.

The [rain]bow shall be in the clouds, and I will see it to remember the eternal covenant between Elohim and between every living soul that is in all flesh that is on the earth.

וַיֹּ֥אמֶר אֱלֹהִ֖ים אֶל־נֹ֑חַ זֹ֤את אֽוֹת־הַבְּרִית֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר הֲקִמֹ֔תִי בֵּינִ֕י וּבֵ֥ין כל־בָּשָׂ֖ר אֲשֶׁ֥ר עַל־הָאָֽרֶץ׃ {פ}

Elohim said to Noach, This is the sign of the covenant that I have established between Myself and between all flesh that is on the earth.

The sons of Noach, who went out of the ark were Sheim, Yafes and Cham; Cham was the father of Canaan.

These three were the sons of Noach, and from these, the whole world developed.

Noach began to be a man of the soil and he planted a vineyard.

He drank of the wine מִן־הַיַּ֖יִן min-hayayin and was intoxicated. He [then] uncovered himself in his tent.

Cham the father of Canaan saw the nakedness עֶרְוַ֣ת ervat of his father, and told it to his brothers [who were] Outside.

Sheim and Yafes took the cloak, placed it on their shoulders, and walked backwards, covering the nakedness וַיְכַסּ֕וּ אֵ֖ת עֶרְוַ֣ת vayechasu et ervat of their father. They faced away from him, and did not see the nakedness of their father.

Noach awoke from his wine [induced sleep] and he realized what had been done to him by his youngest son.

He said, Cursed is Canaan. A slave of slaves shall he be to his brothers.

He then said, Blessed is Adonoy, God of Sheim; may Canaan be his slave.

Elohim will enlarge Yefes, but He will dwell in the tents of Sheim, and Canaan will be their slave.

After the Flood, Noach lived three hundred and fifty years.

וַיִּֽהְיוּ֙ כל־יְמֵי־נֹ֔חַ תְּשַׁ֤ע מֵאוֹת֙ שָׁנָ֔ה וַחֲמִשִּׁ֖ים שָׁנָ֑ה וַיָּמֹֽת׃ {פ}

All the days of Noach totaled nine hundred and fifty years, and he died.

NOAH LEAVES THE ARK

Though the earth assumed its old form at the end of the year of punishment, Noah did not abandon the ark until he received the command of God to leave it. He said to himself, “As I entered the ark at the bidding of God, so I will leave it only at His bidding.” Yet, when God bade Noah go out of the ark, he refused, because he feared that after he had lived upon the dry land for some time, and begotten children, God would bring another flood. He therefore would not leave the ark until God swore He would never visit the earth with a flood again.

When he stepped out from the ark into the open, he began to weep bitterly at sight of the enormous ravages wrought by the flood, and he said to God: “O Lord of the world! Thou art called the Merciful, and Thou shouldst have had mercy upon Thy creatures.” God answered, and said: “O thou foolish shepherd, now thou speakest to Me. Thou didst not so when I addressed kind words to thee, saying: ‘I saw thee as a righteous man and perfect in thy generation, and I will bring the flood upon the earth to destroy all flesh. Make an ark for thyself of gopher wood.’ Thus spake I to thee, telling thee all these circumstances, that thou mightest entreat mercy for the earth. But thou, as soon as thou didst hear that thou wouldst be rescued in the ark, thou didst not concern thyself about the ruin that would strike the earth. Thou didst but build an ark for thyself, in which thou wast saved. Now that the earth is wasted, thou openest thy mouth to supplicate and pray.”

Noah realized that he had been guilty of folly. To propitiate God and acknowledge his sin, he brought a sacrifice. God accepted the offering with favor, whence he is called by his name Noah. The sacrifice was not offered by Noah with his own hands; the priestly services connected with it were performed by his son Shem. There was a reason for this. One day in the ark Noah forgot to give his ration to the lion, and the hungry beast struck him so violent a blow with his paw that he was lame forever after, and, having a bodily defect, he was not permitted to do the offices of a priest.

The sacrifices consisted of an ox, a sheep, a goat, two turtle doves, and two young pigeons. Noah had chosen these kinds because he supposed they were appointed for sacrifices, seeing that God had commanded him to take seven pairs of them into the ark with him. The altar was erected in the same place on which Adam and Cain and Abel had brought their sacrifices, and on which later the altar was to be in the sanctuary at Jerusalem.

After the sacrifice was completed, God blessed Noah and his sons. He made them to be rulers of the world as Adam had been, and He gave them a command, saying, “Be fruitful and multiply upon the earth,” for during their sojourn in the ark, the two sexes, of men and animals alike, had lived apart from each other, because while a public calamity rages continence is becoming even to those who are left unscathed. This law of conduct had been violated by none in the ark except by Ham, by the dog, and by the raven. They all received a punishment. Ham’s was that his descendants were men of dark-hued skin.

As a token that He would destroy the earth no more, God set His bow in the cloud. Even if men should be steeped in sin again, the bow proclaims to them that their sins will cause no harm to the world. Times came in the course of the ages when men were pious enough not to have to live in dread of punishment. In such times the bow was not visible.

God accorded permission to Noah and his descendants to use the flesh of animals for food, which had been forbidden from the time of Adam until then. But they were to abstain from the use of blood. He ordained the seven Noachian laws, the observance of which is incumbent upon all men, not upon Israel alone. God enjoined particularly the command against the shedding of human blood. Whoso would shed man’s blood, his blood would be shed. Even if human judges let the guilty man go free, his punishment would overtake him. He would die an unnatural death, such as he had inflicted upon his fellow-man. Yea, even beasts that slew men, even of them would the life of men be required.

THE CURSE OF DRUNKENNESS

Noah lost his epithet “the pious” when he began to occupy himself with the growing of the vine. He became a “man of the ground,” and this first attempt to produce wine at the same time produced the first to drink to excess, the first to utter curses upon his associates, and the first to introduce slavery. This is the way it all came about. Noah found the vine which Adam had taken with him from Paradise, when he was driven forth. He tasted the grapes upon it, and, finding them palatable, he resolved to plant the vine and tend it. On the selfsame day on which he planted it, it bore fruit, he put it in the wine-press, drew off the juice, drank it, became drunken, and was dishonored–all on one day. His assistant in the work of cultivating the vine was Satan, who had happened along at the very moment when he was engaged in planting the slip he had found. Satan asked him: “What is it thou art planting here?”

Noah: “A vineyard.”

Satan: “And what may be the qualities of what it produces?”

Noah: “The fruit it bears is sweet, be it dry or moist. It yields wine that rejoiceth the heart of man.”

Satan: “Let us go into partnership in this business of planting a vineyard.”

Noah: “Agreed!”

Satan thereupon slaughtered a lamb, and then, in succession, a lion, a pig, and a monkey. The blood of each as it was killed he made to flow under the vine. Thus he conveyed to Noah what the qualities of wine are: before man drinks of it, he is innocent as a lamb; if he drinks of it moderately, he feels as strong as a lion; if he drinks more of it than he can bear, he resembles the pig; and if he drinks to the point of intoxication, then he behaves like a monkey, he dances around, sings, talks obscenely, and knows not what he is doing.

This deterred Noah no more than did the example of Adam, whose fall had also been due to wine, for the forbidden fruit had been the grape, with which he had made himself drunk.

In his drunken condition Noah betook himself to the tent of his wife. His son Ham saw him there, and he told his brothers what he had noticed, and said: “The first man had but two sons, and one slew the other; this man Noah has three sons, yet he desires to beget a fourth besides.” Nor did Ham rest satisfied with these disrespectful words against his father. He added to this sin of irreverence the still greater outrage of attempting to perform an operation upon his father designed to prevent procreation.

When Noah awoke from his wine and became sober, he pronounced a curse upon Ham in the person of his youngest son Canaan. To Ham himself he could do no harm, for God had conferred a blessing upon Noah and his three sons as they departed from the ark. Therefore he put the curse upon the last-born son of the son that had prevented him from begetting a younger son than the three he had.” The descendants of Ham through Canaan therefore have red eyes, because Ham looked upon the nakedness of his father; they have misshapen lips, because Ham spoke with his lips to his brothers about the unseemly condition of his father; they have twisted curly hair, because Ham turned and twisted his head round to see the nakedness of his father; and they go about naked, because Ham did not cover the nakedness of his father. Thus he was requited, for it is the way of God to mete out punishment measure for measure.

Canaan had to suffer vicariously for his father’s sin. Yet some of the punishment was inflicted upon him on his own account, for it had been Canaan who had drawn the attention of Ham to Noah’s revolting condition. Ham, it appears, was but the worthy father of such a son. The last will and testament of Canaan addressed to his children read as follows: “Speak not the truth; hold not yourselves aloof from theft; lead a dissolute life; hate your master with an exceeding great hate; and love one another.”

As Ham was made to suffer requital for his irreverence, so Shem and Japheth received a reward for the filial, deferential way in which they took a garment and laid it upon both their shoulders, and walking backward, with averted faces, covered the nakedness of their father. Naked the descendants of Ham, the Egyptians and Ethiopians, were led away captive and into exile by the king of Assyria, while the descendants of Shem, the Assyrians, even when the angel of the Lord burnt them in the camp, were not exposed, their garments remained upon their corpses unsinged. And in time to come, when Gog shall suffer his defeat, God will provide both shrouds and a place of burial for him and all his multitude, the posterity of Japheth.

Though Shem and Japheth both showed themselves to be dutiful and deferential, yet it was Shem who deserved the larger meed of praise. He was the first to set about covering his father. Japheth joined him after the good deed had been begun. Therefore the descendants of Shem received as their special reward the tallit, the garment worn by them, while the Japhethites have only the toga. A further distinction accorded to Shem was the mention of his name in connection with God’s in the blessing of Noah. “Blessed be the Lord, the God of Shem,” he said, though as a rule the name of God is not joined to the name of a living person, only to the name of one who has departed this life.

The relation of Shem to Japheth was expressed in the blessing their father pronounced upon them: God will grant a land of beauty to Japheth, and his sons will be proselytes dwelling in the academies of Shem. At the same time Noah conveyed by his words that the Shekinah would dwell only in the first Temple, erected by Solomon, a son of Shem, and not in the second Temple, the builder of which would be Cyrus, a descendant of Japheth.

NOAH’S DESCENDANTS SPREAD ABROAD

When it became known to Ham that his father had cursed him, he fled ashamed, and with his family he settled in the city built by him, and named Neelatamauk for his wife. Jealous of his brother, Japheth followed his example. He likewise built a city which he named for his wife, Adataneses. Shem was the only one of the sons of Noah who did not abandon him. In the vicinity of his father’s home, by the mountain, he built his city, to which he also gave his wife’s name, Zedeketelbab. The three cities are all near Mount Lubar, the eminence upon which the ark rested. The first lies to the south of it, the second to the west, and the third to the east.

Noah endeavored to inculcate the ordinances and the commands known to him upon his children and his children’s children. In particular he admonished them against the fornication, the uncleanness, and all the iniquity which had brought the flood down upon the earth. He reproached them with living apart from one another, and with their jealousies, for he feared that, after his death, they might go so far as to shed human blood. Against this he warned them impressively, that they be not annihilated from the earth like those that went before. Another law which he enjoined upon them, to observe it, was the law ordaining that the fruit of a tree shall not be used the first three years it bears, and even in the fourth year it shall be the portion of the priests alone, after a part thereof has been offered upon the altar of God. And having made an end of giving his teachings and injunctions, Noah said: “For thus did Enoch, your ancestor, exhort his son Methuselah, and Methuselah his son Lamech, and Lamech delivered all unto me as his father had bidden him, and now I do exhort you, my children, as Enoch exhorted his son. When he lived, in his generation, which was the seventh generation of man, he commanded it and testified it unto his children and his children’s children, until the day of his death.”

In the year 1569 after the creation of the world, Noah divided the earth by lot among his three sons, in the presence of an angel. Each one stretched forth his hand and took a slip from the bosom of Noah. Shem’s slip was inscribed with the middle of the earth, and this portion became the inheritance of his descendants unto all eternity. Noah rejoiced that the lot had assigned it to Shem. Thus was fulfilled his blessing upon him, “And God in the habitation of Shem,” for three holy places fell within his precincts–the Holy of Holies in the Temple, Mount Sinai, the middle point of the desert, and Mount Zion, the middle point of the navel of the earth.

The south fell to the lot of Ham, and the north became the inheritance of Japheth. The land of Ham is hot, Japheth’s cold, but Shem’s is neither hot nor cold, its temperature is hot and cold mixed.

This division of the earth took place toward the end of the life of Peleg, the name given to him by his father Eber, who, being a prophet, knew that the division of the earth would take place in the time of his son. The brother of Peleg was called Joktan, because the duration of the life of man was shortened in his time.

In turn, the three sons of Noah, while they were still standing in the presence of their father, divided each his portion among his children, Noah threatening with his curse any who should stretch out his hand to take a portion not assigned to him by lot. And they all cried, “So be it! So be it!”

Thus were divided one hundred and four lands and ninety-nine islands among seventy-two nations, each with a language of its own, using sixteen different sets of characters for writing. To Japheth were allotted forty-four lands, thirty-three islands, twenty-two languages, and five kinds of writing; Ham received thirty-four lands, thirty-three islands, twenty-four languages, and five kinds of writing; and Shem twenty-six lands, thirty-three islands, twenty-six languages, and six kinds of writing–one set of written characters more to Shem than to either of his brothers, the extra set being the Hebrew.

The land appointed as the inheritance of the twelve sons of Jacob was provisionally granted to Canaan, Zidon, Heth, the Jebusites, the Amorites, the Girgashites, the Hivites, the Arkites, the Sinites, the Arvadites, the Zemarites, and the Hamathites. It was the duty of these nations to take care of the land until the rightful owners should come.

No sooner had the children of Noah and their children’s children taken possession of the habitations apportioned to them, than the unclean spirits began to seduce men and torment them with pain and all sorts of suffering leading to spiritual and physical death. Upon the entreaties of Noah God sent down the angel Raphael, who banished nine-tenths of the unclean spirits from the earth, leaving but one-tenth for Mastema, to punish sinners through them. Raphael, supported by the chief of the unclean spirits, at that time revealed to Noah all the remedies residing in plants, that he might resort to them at need. Noah recorded them in a book, which he transmitted to his son Shem. This is the source to which go back all the medical books whence the wise men of India, Aram, Macedonia, and Egypt draw their knowledge. The sages of India devoted themselves particularly to the study of curative trees and spices; the Arameans were well versed in the knowledge of the properties of grains and seeds, and they translated the old medical books into their language. The wise men of Macedonia were the first to apply medical knowledge practically, while the Egyptians sought to effect cures by means of magic arts and by means of astrology, and they taught the Midrash of the Chaldees, composed by Kangar, the son of Ur, the son of Kesed. Medical skill spread further and further until the time of aesculapius. This Macedonian sage, accompanied by forty learned magicians, journeyed from country to country, until they came to the land beyond India, in the direction of Paradise. They hoped there to find some wood of the tree of life, and thus spread their fame abroad over the whole world. Their hope was frustrated. When they arrived at the spot, they found healing trees and wood of the tree of life, but when they were in the act of stretching forth their hands to gather what they desired, lightning darted out of the ever-turning sword, smote them to the ground, and they were all burnt. With them disappeared all knowledge of medicine, and it did not revive until the time of the first Artaxerxes, under the Macedonian sage Hippocrates, Dioscorides of Baala, Galen of Caphtor, and the Hebrew Asaph.

The end for now………

Reads like a little folklore and fantasy novel, right?! Personally, I believe folklore is more true than history books.

Well, I hope you enjoyed…. I hope others check out the Legends of the Jews…. in my opinion it’s better than watching t.v. or something like that. xoxo

The Priestly Blessing

And  HaShem our G-D spoke to Moses, saying: “Speak to Aaron and his sons, saying, ‘This is the way you shall bless the children of Israel. Say to them:
Yivarechecha Adonai viyishmirecha
Ya’er Adonai panav elecha veechuneka
Yeesa Adonai panav elecha viyasem lecha shalom
“The L-d bless you and keep you;
The L-d make His face shine upon you,
And be gracious to you;
The L-d lift up His countenance upon you,
And give you peace.” ’
“So they shall put My name on the children of Israel, and I will bless them.”
In HaShem and HaShem’s alone Mighty Glorious Name.
