Public Community Notice Regarding Original Creative Works

Rheena Velia Legacy Press and Rheena Velia appreciate the growing community of listeners, readers, viewers, and creators who engage with and are inspired by our work.

It has recently come to our attention that some original creative works associated with Rheena Velia and Rheena Velia Legacy Press may be reproduced, adapted, incorporated into other works, or presented without appropriate identification of the original source.

Some instances may be completely unintentional. For that reason, this notice is intended first and foremost as a friendly reminder to our creative community.

Inspiration Is Welcome

I am genuinely happy to see that my original songs, lyrics, writing, visual concepts, and stories have inspired others to create and express themselves.

That is one of the beautiful things about art. One person’s creativity can inspire another person to create something entirely new.

I support creativity, collaboration, commentary, discussion, and people developing their own authentic ideas.

Inspiration is beautiful. Giving credit is respect.

Copyright and Original Creative Work

Copyright protects original works of authorship once they are fixed in a tangible form. Musical compositions and their lyrics may be protected separately from the sound recordings in which they appear.

Copyright owners generally hold exclusive rights that include reproduction, distribution, public performance, and the creation or authorization of derivative works, subject to limitations and exceptions provided by law.

Accordingly, please do not reproduce or present Rheena Velia’s original lyrics, music, written material, recordings, artwork, or substantial portions of protected creative works as your own.

When permission, licensing, attribution, or other authorization is required, please obtain it before using the work.

A Note About Fair Use

Fair use under Section 107 of the U.S. Copyright Act can permit certain uses of copyrighted material without permission for purposes such as criticism, commentary, news reporting, teaching, scholarship, and research.

However, fair use is not an automatic exemption simply because a creator provides credit, uses only part of a work, does not make money from it, or describes the new work as inspired by the original.

Fair use is evaluated individually based on the circumstances and the four statutory factors established under U.S. copyright law.

I want people to write, sing, create, imagine, question, transform, and tell their own stories.

I simply ask that we respect the work behind the art and recognize creators for what they personally created.

Create something beautiful.

Create something authentic.

And when another creator’s protected work becomes part of what you create, respect their rights and give appropriate recognition where applicable.
