Dear Friends and Families,

We want to create a shared reading experience throughout our community. To do this, we’ve chosen to share some of the many books we’ve truly enjoyed over the years. These selections cover a wide range of topics—some are chapter books, some are religious or educational, and some are simply meant to be enjoyed quietly with a warm cup of tea.

The heart of this project is simple: to encourage meaningful home reading experiences.

How do we do that? I’m glad you asked.

By sharing our love of books openly and generously, we hope to make reading accessible and inviting to everyone—families, friends, coworkers, new subscribers, long-time subscribers, and even strangers we meet in everyday life. (Yes, even the friendly stranger in the grocery store!) Anyone who loves stories, learning, or thoughtful reading is welcome to join this motivating, exciting, shared book adventure.

Some may be thinking, “Books can be expensive.” And that’s true—but thankfully, there are many ways to find books affordably or even for free.

One of my favorite resources is ThriftBooks.com, where I regularly purchase used books online.
✨ Fun fact: Teachers receive a discount—and yes, that includes homeschool teachers!

I also love:

Library book sales
Local book fairs
Book clubs
“Friends of the Library” programs by city
Free libraries (including the wonderful “little libraries” you find in neighborhoods or under a tree 🌳)

I’ve also joined free social media groups where people give away or trade books. Simply asking for books in genres you enjoy can be surprisingly fruitful. Many people are genuinely happy to pass along books they no longer need.

And to that, I happily say: #thankyouHaShem — I am more than willing to give books a new home and continue their journey.

Our hope is that this page inspires reading, connection, curiosity, and shared learning—one book at a time.

How Reading Books as a Family Enriches Life, Home, and the Soul

In earlier generations—before the constant rush and noise of modern life—families and friends regularly gathered to read together. Daily and nightly reading was not unusual; it was expected. Books were shared aloud in living rooms and around tables, creating moments of connection, learning, and reflection.

Reading together was never just about entertainment. It served educational purposes, strengthened character, expanded understanding, and helped individuals improve both themselves and their place in the world. Stories taught values. History provided wisdom. Literature opened hearts and minds.

When families and communities return to this practice, the effects are noticeable. Teachers, neighbors, friends, coworkers—and even casual acquaintances—begin to see a quiet transformation. There is more joy, more patience, and a deeper sense of presence at home. This inner enrichment often carries over into work, relationships, and daily responsibilities, enhancing performance and emotional well-being.

Creativity flourishes through related activities such as drawing, journaling, writing alternate endings, or solving mysteries together. These moments strengthen bonds and turn reading into an experience rather than a task.

Adding simple elements like daily trivia questions or discussion prompts keeps everyone engaged and attentive. These practices sharpen awareness of the plot, deepen understanding of characters, and give purpose to nightly reading time. Over time, families find themselves able to recall meaningful insights, quotes, and references—ready to share wisdom in everyday moments.

Reading together is more than a habit. It is a legacy—one that nurtures minds, strengthens families, and enriches life itself.
